The food was good. But they didn’t have many options for Vegetarians. The place was cozy and easy to reach. The staff were friendly too. The only thing I don’t recommend is the smoked beer. That was strange. It tasted like bitter smoked sausage. Definitely not my thing.

Unfriendly boss, waitress bends over the table without comment, etc. Time limit and forced to eat when seated inside. Better to go to the brewery across the street.

A very cozy restaurant where we were guests during our vacation on September 22nd, 2020. We have passed the restaurant a few times before and the benches in the outside area were always full. That's why we wanted to make a reservation, but this is only possible from 5 people. However, there were three of us. On the day we wanted to stop in the tiled stove for dinner, however, we were lucky and got a nice place in the dining room. At a table in front of the counter, practically right at the source. The gentlemen in the tiled stove were very friendly and brisk. Our wishes were met immediately and everything was as it should be. My Schäuferla with dumpling and savoy cabbage was delicious, just like the beer. Many thanks to the team from the tiled stove for this beautiful evening!

An absolute classic in Bamberg. Enjoy a great meal when the weather is nice. The service is very attentive and friendly and always ready to have fun. Well worth the visit.

Great food ... great atmosphere ... cellars were just great ... waitresses should change jobs ... otherwise everything was great

Okay soo the cuisine was awesome, authentic food of the region and it tasted great portion size was also big the staff was wearing traditional clothing and the atmosphere was like a log house very pretty with lots of small details ,would rate 5 stars if it had more space inside the place is a bit crammed but adds to the feeling.

Nice quaint pub, pure Bavaria. Host takes getting used to, friendly is different. If you don't want to eat, you'd better go further, just drink beer, the host will start you up. But food is tasty and good.

Noisy place with tables on the sidewalk. The food is delicious at reasonable prices. Only smoked beer is good. Cannot be paid by card.

We only had a drink there. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food. The service was very nice and the interior is also very nicely decorated. Prices were also perfectly okay.

The place is evidently very well known as we had to queue to enter. We asked for a seat inside because it was raining outside, very small inside and all made of wood like a typical Bavarian stube. We got a pork knuckle and a mixed platter of sausages. Both were very good though, while the shank was plentiful, the sausage platter was not. Finally, the strudel was a bit "chewy". Excellent bill, with 2 beers it was about 40 €.

Great food, super friendly staff. However, the boss of the restaurant is super unsympathetic. He (at least 45 years old) called all guests a 'treasure', including me (22 years old!), Guests who criticized him apinged and disrespectfully turned on and did not pull the face mask over their nose or mouth. When I politely asked him about it, he only said: 'Oh darling, just go' although I was already sitting at the table and ate and drank. No respect or criticism whatsoever.

Ate great outdoors in front of the house. Food was good. Service nice, fair prices but the only negative thing - the beer tent structures stain after using the disinfectant. You could have offered a drink to compensate for the detergent ....... Something like that goes down when the house is full.

The service was really great. Super friendly and quick! 5/5 for that alone. The food was also good, the restaurant nice and rustic and the beer cold and tasty. Recommended for a visit to Bamberg.

I had a very bad experience in this restaurant. I was approaching the waiter to ask if the table he was just clearing was free. To be polite I approached him in German which is not my mother toungue. In stead of answering my question he started lecturing me that before I had said "Grüss Gott" to him he would not answer my question or let me sit down. I wonder if that's the policy of this restaurant.

I was there in 2009. Absolutely the best Sauerbraten and Trout anywhere! I have tried sauerbraten in many places, and nothing compares. I’ve had trout in many places as well including Gatlinburg. I’ll take Kachelofen any day. When I go back to Germany, that’s where I’ll be dining.

Everything's about this place was just ok, the ambiance, service, drinks, even the food. It's not bad or anything, just nothing expectional, overall it's ok German restaurant.

Nice outdoor seating. Friendly service. They have an English menu if you need it. Turkey and fries were hot and fresh. The mixed sausage plate comes with delicious home fries.

Best place in Bamberg where you can try national cuisine and beer! But you have to be very careful, portion Schäuferla for 2 people can feed 4 people !!

A Saturday afternoon in Bamberg, sat at the bar, drinking kellerbier and watching the busy comings and goings of the staff, the flood of customers, the large amazing meals being served in the most wonderful atmosphere and setting possible? Truly memorable.

A place that locals eat at. Friendly and welcoming. Others at table (you share) commended us for our drink choices, which was the local beer they made in town. Was amazing.

Cozzy and warm

Well average restaurant. Prices are high. When we came in one of the leaving guests said we can take his place because restaurant is full than waiter came to told us that he's calling shots there not some guests so we had to stand untill he showed us to very same table anyway but with other people already sitting there. Food was weird e.g. dumplings were sour ??? Meat was good. Guests on the other hand were very nice.

As a German from Hannover let me Tell you: 1st Star for authentic handcrafted food. 2nd star for more that fair prices. 3rd star for the smart service, always caring for new beer. 4th star for the beer diversity (Keller beer would be my recommendation for starters. try one Rauch beer before ordering more, might not be everybodies favorite). 5th Star because that place is always crowded and it's usual to be seatet at the same table with locals or tourists in this cosy tavern. You get in touch easily. @the team from Kachelofen: keep up your excellent work!

Went here a few years ago with friends. Great place and the atmosphere is cool.

Great food and beer. Our waiter was superb, English speaking, efficient and helpful. The food was totally amazing and portions were plentiful. I’d highly recommend a visit here!
